How GOAT and StockX fees differ
- GOAT: a commission by seller rating (9.5% at 90 or above, 15% at 70 to 89, 20% at 50 to 69, 25% below 50), a seller fee of $5 with a prepaid label or $0 if you drop the item off, and an optional 2.9% cash out fee if you withdraw by ACH or PayPal. The buyer pays shipping and sales tax.
- StockX, Verified Marketplace: a transaction fee of 9% at Level 1 down to 7% at Level 5 ($5 minimum), 3% payment processing, and about $5 shipping for one pair from the US, taken from your payout.
- At a rating of 90 or above (where every GOAT seller starts), with a prepaid label, cashing out, and StockX Level 1, GOAT keeps more below about $116 and StockX above it, but the gap stays small: a $100 pair keeps $83.02 on GOAT against $83.00 on StockX, a $200 pair $170.90 against $171.00 (StockX $0.10 ahead), and a $2,000 pair is only $2.35 apart.
- Keeping the balance on GOAT instead of cashing out removes the 2.9%: at 90 or above GOAT then keeps more at every price from $10 to $5,000, with a prepaid label or a drop-off. On a $200 pair that is $176.00 against $171.00 on StockX.
- A drop-off saves the $5 seller fee. At 90 or above and cashing out, it moves the switch to StockX from about $116 to about $4,016.
- A lower GOAT rating flips it quickly. At 70 to 89 and cashing out with a prepaid label, StockX keeps more above about $35.56 ($160.21 on GOAT against $171.00 on a $200 pair); at 50 to 69, above about $26.64; below 50, above about $21.28. Whatever else you choose, below 90 StockX keeps more above about $166.66, the best case for GOAT.
- Your StockX Seller Level matters too. At Levels 2 to 5 StockX's lower fee brings the prepaid, cash out switch down from about $116 to about $56.37, and the drop-off, cash out switch from about $4,016 to about $800 at Level 2 and $235.32 at Level 5.
- Both authenticate sneakers before they reach the buyer, so the choice comes down to fees, price and how fast each sells your pair.

Frequently asked questions
Tap a question to open the answer.
Is GOAT or StockX cheaper for sellers?
It depends on your GOAT rating and whether you cash out. At 90 or above, with a prepaid label, cashing out and StockX Level 1, GOAT keeps more below about $116: a $100 pair keeps $83.02 on GOAT and $83.00 on StockX. Above that StockX keeps slightly more, $171.00 against $170.90 on a $200 pair. If you keep the balance on GOAT, GOAT keeps more at every price to $5,000.
How much does my GOAT seller rating change it?
A lot. A rating below 90 raises GOAT's commission from 9.5% to 15%, 20% or 25%. On a $200 pair, with a prepaid label and cashing out, you'd keep $160.21 at 70 to 89 and $140.79 below 50 on GOAT, against $171.00 on StockX at Level 1.
Does GOAT's 2.9% cash out fee matter?
Yes, it is what lets StockX catch up. At a rating of 90 or above a prepaid label with the cash out fee loses to StockX above about $116; keeping the balance on GOAT means GOAT keeps more at every price to $5,000. On a $200 pair that is $176.00 instead of $170.90.
Is a GOAT drop-off better than a prepaid label?
For fees, yes: $0 against $5, and it also avoids the 2.9% on that $5. At 90 or above and cashing out it moves the switch to StockX from about $116 to about $4,016.
Do GOAT and StockX both authenticate sneakers?
Yes, both check each pair before it reaches the buyer, so authentication doesn't decide it.
Does my StockX Seller Level matter?
Yes. A higher Level lowers StockX's fee, which moves the switch point down: at 90 or above, with a prepaid label and cashing out, GOAT keeps more only below about $56.37 at Levels 2 to 5, compared with about $116 at Level 1.
